Burke Lewis, Principal

Burke Lewis is able to see both the forest and the trees. The first twelve years of his career was spent as an attorney in private practice with a focus on commercial real estate, but for the last five years, he has worked on the business side of the deals, assessing and acquiring retail centers in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. His background allows him the unique ability to think big picture for each commercial asset, while also managing the details. Burke uses his analytical skills and experience with the overall objective of adding value to the centers of NewLink’s clients, from an owner’s perspective.

In his role as Principal and General Counsel, Burke not only handles legal matters for the company and manages the lease administration team, but he also plays a key role in charting the strategic course for NewLink. Because his motivation is client satisfaction, he is always focused on the needs of NewLink’s clients and strategies for NewLink to achieve their financial goals.

Burke is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, has a law degree from the University of Virginia, and a masters of business administration from William & Mary.  He is on the board of the YMCA of Greater Richmond, an active member of the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) and the Urban Land Institute, and a guest lecturer at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business.

Burke is married with three young children. When he’s not working or cheering on his kids in their endeavors, you might find him outdoors, whether it be for trail running, hiking, or the occasional fly fishing or skiing adventure.
